U.S. Route 66 – Amerika`da 1926 ve 1985 yılları arasında ABD karayolları ağı içerisinde yer almış ünlü bir otoyol’un adıdır.
İlk kez 11 Kasım 1926′da açılan yolun baslangic yeri Şikago'nun Illinois sehridir. Yolun gectigi noktalar Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Teksas, New Mexico, Arizona ve Kaliforniya eyaletlerini katederek Los Angeles şehrine kadar ilerliyor.
Ülkeyi (ve neredeyse kıtayı) doğudan batıya kateden bu yolun uzunluğu 3.940 kilometredir(2.448 miles). “U.S. Route 66″ 27 Haziran 1985 tarihinde resmen “ABD Karayolları Sistemi”nden çıkartılmis ve bu tarihi yol yerini “Eyaletlerarası Otoyol Sistemi” ne bırakmistir. Tarihi ve turistik bir değeri olan yol popüler kültürde de oldukça geniş bir şekilde yer almaktadir. Route 66 gezisi yerli ve yabanci bir cok turistin ilgi alani olmus ve Route 66 icin en uygun zamanin yaz aylari oldugu ve baslangic noktasi olarak da Chicago nun tercih edildigi edindigim bilgiler arasinda.
